Lebanese Protestors Hold Funeral For Their National Currency, Inspired By Popular Coffin Dance

A hilarious video has been making the rounds on social media, showing a group of Lebanese protestors holding a symbolic funeral for their national currency, the Lebanese Lira (L.L.)

This comes after the worst economic crisis the country has ever witnessed, trigerred by the devaluation of their national currency and the devastating increase in prices at a time where businesses are closing down and unemployment is peaking.

But despite the hardships, Lebanese people still find a way to poke fun of their situation and joke about it. So they went around in the Lebanese city of Zahle, dressed in matching uniforms and holding a coffin of the Lebanese Lira while dancing to the music of the popular meme of the “coffin dance”.

The hilarious gesture was inspired by Ghana’s dancing pallbearers, who have taken social media by a storm over the past few months.
