“My Talent From My Home:” Unique Campaign Encourages People To Stay Home In Jordan

In an attempt to encourage people to stay home amid the coronavirus outbreak, Jordan’s Ministry of Culture has launched a unique competition that is introducing the world to some of the country’s hidden talents.

“Mawhebti Men Bayti”, loosely translated to “My Talent From My Home”, was launched in late March and has attracted more than 67,000 participants and 18 million views on social networks.

Contestants are divided according to age, and participating categories include music, poetry, drawing, and storytelling. Prizes ranging between range from 100 and 1,000 dinars ($140-$1,400) are awarded weekly, and the winners are announced on television and on the ministry’s website.

The contest is scheduled to run until Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and will fall later in May.
