12 Things Every Jordanian Kid Will Remember

Most of us have incredible memories from our childhoods, whether they’re of the toys we used to play with or the television shows we used to enjoy. Here are only a few of the things every Jordanian kid will remember:

1. The Grendizer theme song:

“3ally 3ally batal fled, hayya tir ya Grendizer!” You sang that in your head, didn’t you? And we’re sure these names will ring a bell: Rami, Majed, Rabeh, Adnan, and Lina. All the cartoons we used to obsess over are still somewhere in our heads.

2. Jabal Al-Hussein

Shawarma and fruit cocktails from Rannoush, brand new shoes for the first day of school from Bisher, and stopping by the Luna Park to ride “the worm” before heading home.

3. “I declare war on…”

A war game we all played in our neighborhoods! You draw a circle on the ground with chalk and split it into three parts, pick a country and wage war! Ironically whoever picked the US was always the winner.

4. Robert’s Chocolates

Yellow and purple for just 20 qroosh, Robert’s chocolate with hazelnut was literally everywhere.

5. King Abdullah Gardens and Sports City

The two spots that define your summer! The first to get dizzy playing the scissor game and the second so we swim and monkey around.

6. The usual school trips to Jubaiha and Sifeen

The very first place we got to watch the Titanic! As well as every single Mohamad Huneidi movie.

9. Ras el-Abd

This controversially named snack is still one of the most memorable flavors of our childhood.

10. Sweifieh and Al Thaqafeh Street

One word: coolness.

11. Bicycles

Whoever had one felt like they were on top of the world!

12. Al-Manahel

I swear, even foreigners were obsessed with this show!
