Phrases Our Jordanian Mothers Say When The Weather Changes
One day it’s all sun and the next the clouds are raining down.
During this confusing period, here are some phrases that our Jordanian mothers love to repeat:
1. “Boukra iza mredti ana ma khasni”
This normally comes after we start wearing our summer clothes even though the weather isn’t fully warm yet.
2. “Iza rje3et baradet, ma ra7 raje3 anazel l sayfe!”
Threats galore.
3. “ma tfakir ra7 a3atlak 3an l madrase iza mredet”
This is the sentence that every mother has said at least 20 times!
4. “lessa bakir 3al bouza”
Does ice cream need to be seasonal?
5. “boukra btemrad w abouk bi balesh fiyi”
Because who else is there to blame?!
6. “ma le72et etshamis sar bedak telbos sayfi”
7. “Ma fi sbe7a la tkhalis emti7anatak”
